BRAKELIGHT Switch

NOTE: Brakelight switch consists of cruise brake switch (dedicated to cruise control system) and brakelight switch (part of brakelight system).
  1. Ensure brakelight switch is properly adjusted. See BRAKELIGHT SWITCH  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  2. Disconnect brakelight switch 4-pin connector. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between all 4 terminals. With brake pedal released, continuity should exist not between brakelight switch terminals No. 2 and 3. See Fig 1 . If continuity is not as specified, replace brakelight switch. If continuity is as specified, go to next step.
  3. With brake pedal released, continuity should not exist between brakelight switch terminals No. 1 and 4. If continuity is not as specified, replace brakelight switch. If continuity is as specified, go to next step.
  4. When brake pedal is depressed, continuity should exist between terminals No. 1 and 4. Continuity should also exist between terminals No. 2 and 3. If continuity is not as specified, replace brakelight switch. See BRAKELIGHT SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
