Engine Coolant: Replacement

WARNING:
  • Never open radiator cap while engine is hot.
  • Wrap a thick cloth around cap before loosening.
  • Use caution when draining hot coolant.
CAUTION:
  • Do not use alcohol or methanol-based coolant.
  • Use only demineralized water in coolant mixture.
  1. Remove radiator cap and loosen drain plug.

  2. Drain coolant into a suitable container.
  3. Flush cooling system with water until all traces of color are gone; then let system drain completely.
  4. Install drain plug.
  5. Fill with proper mixture of ethylene glycol-based coolant.

    Coolant Capacity: 6.3 Us qt (6.0 liters, 5.3 lmp qt)  )

  6. Run the engine with the radiator cap removed until the upper radiator hose is hot.
  7. With the engine idling, add coolant to the radiator until it reaches the bottom of the filler neck.
  8. Install the radiator cap.
  9. Allow engine to cool and check coolant level.
