Description & Operation

WARNING: Vehicle is equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS.

Outside rearview mirror assembly includes mirror glass and mirror frame, a motor, wire harness and garnish. Some models are equipped with a mirror heater that operates when rear window defroster is activated. Each mirror can be adjusted in 4 directions from inside vehicle using remote control mirror switch. See Fig 1 . To adjust mirrors, move mirror selector switch, located on left side of instrument panel, to mirror to be adjusted. Adjust mirror angle by pressing remote control mirror switch in desired direction. Release switch when mirror stops moving. Motor continues to operate for as long as switch is pressed and can be damaged if mirror is no longer moving.
