Idler Gear: Reassembly
- Press bearing outer races.
- Install idler gear bearing onto idler shaft, then install idler gear, adjustment shims, spacer, and bearing.NOTE: Use protective plates in vise to prevent damage to SST.
- Secure idler shaft in a vise with SST(0K130 191 034)
and tighten lock nut to lower limit of tightening torque.
Tightening torque: 95~130 lb-ft. (128~176 N.m, 13~18 kg-cm)
NOTE: Use protective plates in vise to prevent damage to idler gear. - Check and adjust idler gear bearing preload.
- Turn idler gear assembly and SST(0K130 191 034) over and secure gear in vise.
- Attach SST(0K130 191 034) and spring scale or torque wrench and measure preload while tightening lock nut.
NOTE: Read preload when idler shaft is rotating.Tightening torque: 95~130 lb-ft. (128~176 N.m, 13~18 kg-cm)
Preload: 0.27~7.8 lb-in. (0.03~0.8 N.m, 0.3~0.9 kg-cm)
NOTE:- The maximum allowable number of shims is 7.
- Preload is reduced by increasing thickness of shims, or increased by reducing thickness.
- If specified preload cannot be obtained within specified tightening torque, adjust by selecting proper adjustment shims. Refer to ADJUSTMENT SHIM SIZES
