Strut Assembly: Inspection
Check strut tube for damage, oil leakage and abnormal noise. Attach a handle to piston rod, then collapse and expand strut at least 3 times. Ensure operational force is smooth, continuous and does not change with each stroke. Also ensure there is no unusual noise from within strut. Check rubber components for deterioration or damage. Inspect coil spring for signs of fatigue or damage. Replace components as necessary.
