Test O: DTC 4-1-3-3: Test
- Remove ABS (40A) fuse from engine compartment fuse panel and inspect for an open. Replace fuse as necessary. Disconnect ABS control unit connector. Turn ignition on. Using jumper wires, temporarily jump terminals No. 34 and 1 and jump terminals No. 15 and 19 of ABS harness connector. Verify pump motor operation by listening for sound of pump motor. If pump motor operation is heard, go to step 7). If pump motor is inoperative, go to next step.
- Disconnect ABS pump motor relay 4-pin connector. Check resistance of pump motor harness connector terminals No. 1 (Red wire) and 2 (Brown wire). Resistance should read 3-4 ohms. If reading is not as specified, replace ABS pump motor. If reading is as specified, go to next step.
- Disconnect both ABS pump motor relay 4-pin and 9-pin connectors. Check resistance between relay terminals No. 4 (9-pin connector Yellow/Blue wire) and No. 6 (Red/White wire). See Fig 1 . Resistance reading should be 42-58 ohms. If reading is not as specified, replace relay. If reading is as specified, go to next step.
- Using jumper wires, connect battery voltage to relay terminal No. 4 (9-pin connector Yellow/Blue wire) and connect No. 6 (9-pin connector Red/White wire) to ground. See Fig 1 . Check resistance between relay terminal No. 1 (4-pin connector Red wire) and terminal No. 2 (9-pin connector Blue wire). If resistance is less than one ohm, go to next step. If reading is not as specified, replace relay.
- Remove ABS (40A) fuse, located in engine compartment fuse panel. Disconnect ABS pump motor relay 4-pin and 9-pin connectors and ABS control unit connector. Check resistance between ABS pump motor relay 9-pin connector terminal to specified connector terminals. See Fig 1

9-Pin Terminal (Wire Color) Terminal No. 2 (Blue) ABS Fuse Terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Blue) ABS Control Unit No.15 No. 7 (Black) ABS Control Unit No.31 No. 8 (Black) Ground No. 9 (Brown) ABS Control Unit No.49 If resistance is less than one ohm, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, locate and repair open or short to ground in that wire.
- Check resistance from ABS pump motor relay 9-pin terminals, except for terminal No. 8, to chassis ground. If resistance is greater than 10 megohms, connect all connectors and go to next step. If reading is not as specified, locate and repair short to ground as necessary.
- Disconnect ABS relay 4-pin connector. Check resistance between terminals No. 3 (Red wire) and 4 (Red wire). If resistance is 11-15 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace ABS pump motor.
- Disconnect both ABS pump motor relay connectors. Check for continuity across relay terminals from 4-pin terminal No. 3 (Red wire) to 9-pin terminal No. 7 (Black wire). Check for continuity across relay terminals from 4-pin terminal No. 4 to 9-pin terminal No. 9. If continuity does not exist, replace relay. If continuity exists, connect relay connectors and go to next step.
- Disconnect 4-pin connector from ABS pump motor relay. Check resistance from terminal No. 2 and No. 3 to housing of ABS pump motor. If reading is greater than 10 megohms, go to next step. If reading is not as specified, replace ABS pump motor.
- Reconnect all connectors. Erase diagnostic trouble codes. See ERASING CODES under RETRIEVING CODES . If diagnostic trouble code 4-1-3-3 is still present, replace ABS control unit and repeat TEST 0. If trouble code is intermittent, see TROUBLE SHOOTING .
