Test L: DTC 1-2-4-1: Test

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control unit connector. Inspect terminals No. 29 and 47 for poor or loose connection, dirt or corrosion. Repair as necessary. If terminals are in good condition, measure resistance between harness terminals No. 29 and 47. Resistance should read between 1-1.4 k/ohms. If reading is as specified, go to step 4). If reading is not as specified, go to next step.
  2. Check for an open or short from ABS control unit connector terminal No. 47 (Black wire) to right front wheel speed sensor harness connector terminal No. 2. Also check for an open or short from ABS harness terminal No. 29 (Brown wire) to right front wheel speed sensor harness connector terminal No. 1. Repair as necessary. If an open or short is not found, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect right front wheel speed sensor harness connector. Inspect terminals for damage, dirt, corrosion and poor connections. Repair as necessary. Measure resistance across harness connector terminals. Resistance should be 1-1.4 k/ohms. If reading is not as specified, replace wheel speed sensor. If reading is as specified, go to next step.
  4. Measure resistance from terminal No. 1 (Brown wire) to housing of sensor. Reading should be greater than 10 megohms. If reading is not as specified, replace wheel speed sensor. If reading is as specified, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect ABS control unit connector. Measure resistance from both terminals of right front wheel speed sensor connector to chassis ground. Reading should be greater than 10 megohms. If reading is not as specified, check Black wire and Brown wire for a short to ground. If no short exists, go to next step.
  6. Reconnect all connectors. Erase diagnostic trouble codes. See ERASING CODES under RETRIEVING CODES  . If diagnostic trouble code 1-2-4-1 is still present, replace ABS control unit and repeat TEST L. If trouble code is intermittent, see TROUBLE SHOOTING  .
