Code 34: Idle Speed Control Solenoid Valve
- Disconnect ECM C249 (26-pin) connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 12 (Blue/Orange wire) of ECM C249 (26-pin) connector. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, check ECM connector for poor connection. Repair or replace connector as necessary. If ECM connector is okay, go to step 3).
- Measure voltage between ground and Blue/Orange wire of idle speed control solenoid valve connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, locate and repair open in Blue/Orange wire.
- Disconnect idle speed control solenoid valve connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between idle speed control solenoid valve terminals. Resistance should be 11-13 ohms at 68°F (20°C). If resistance is not as specified, replace idle speed control solenoid valve. If resistance is as specified, check for short or open circuit in wiring harness between idle speed control solenoid valve and main relay. If wiring is okay, try a known good ECM and retest.
