Code 26: Purge Control Solenoid Valve

  1. Disconnect ECM C249 (26-pin) connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 25 (White/Blue wire) of ECM C249 (26-pin) connector. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, check ECM connector for poor connection. Repair or replace connector as necessary. If ECM connector is okay, go to step 3).
  2. Measure voltage between ground and White/Blue wire of purge control solenoid valve connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, locate and repair open in White/Blue wire.
  3. Check purge control solenoid valve. See appropriate SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. Replace purge control solenoid valve as necessary. If purge control solenoid valve is okay, check for short or open circuit in wiring harness between purge control solenoid valve and main relay. If wiring is okay, try a known good ECM and retest.
