Front Suspension

FRONT CAMBER

1 - Spring Link Nut
2 - Spring Link Bolt
NOTE: Camber adjustment eccentrics are not installed at the factory. Camber adjustment eccentrics can be acquired from the parts department.

To Adjust Front Camber: 

  1. Loosen the spring link nut.
  2. Rotate the spring link bolt until the camber reading is within specifications.
  3. Hold the spring link bolt and tighten the spring link nut to the proper torque specifications. Make sure the setting does not change during tightening. 
  4. Verify the proper camber setting.

FRONT CASTER 

Caster cannot be independently adjusted but is a result of properly adjusted camber, toe, ride height, and other factors.

NOTE: The toe setting procedure can only be performed once all other alignment adjustments are within specifications.

To Adjust Front Toe: 

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Perform a caster sweep, recording to the computer alignment machine the wheel alignment changes in the caster angle as the steering wheel is turned full left and right to the full lock position before straightening the wheels.
  3. Secure (locking in place with suitable tool) the steering wheel with the front wheels in the straight ahead position.
  4. Loosen the tie rod jam nuts.
    NOTE:

    Each front wheel should be adjusted for one half of the total toe specification. 

  5. Adjust the toe setting by rotating the inner tie rod as necessary.
  6. Hold the inner tie rod and tighten the tie rod jam nuts to the proper torque specifications. Make sure the setting does not change during tightening. 
  7. Verify the proper toe setting.
  8. Remove the steering wheel holding tool.
  9. Perform a final caster sweep, (turning the steering wheel Left then Right to center, as per instruction from the alignment machine) Ensure that the steering wheel is centered and straight to record final readings
  10. If required by machine, enter the final caster data into the computer alignment machine (not required on most machines).
  11. Road test the vehicle, ensuring the steering wheel is properly centered.
