Engine Compartment PDC: Notes
REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to 2.0L, 12 VOLT BATTERY DISCONNECT or 3.6L, BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
- Remove the plastic two piece fasteners. Remove the push-pins.
1 - Plastic Two Piece Fasteners 2 - Right Engine Compartment Closeout 3 - Push-Pins 4 - Retainer Clips - Release the retainer clips and remove the right engine compartment closeout.
- Remove the Engine Compartment PDC cover by pushing inward on the latches.
1 - Latches 2 - Power Distribution Center (PDC) Cover - Remove the eyelet nuts and PDC to battery (+) nut, then disconnect the eyelet terminals from the PDC.
1 - Upper PDC Captive Screws 2 - Eyelet Nuts 3 - PDC to Battery (+) Nut - Loosen the upper PDC captive screws to release the electrical connections under the upper PDC.
- Release the lock tabs and remove the upper PDC from the lower PDC.
1 - Lock Tabs 2 - Upper PDC - Release and remove the upper PDC wire harness connectors from the lower tray by pulling upward from the lower PDC. Be careful not to damage the connectors.
1 - Wire Harness Connectors 2 - Eyelet Fasteners 3 - Eyelet Terminals - Remove the eyelet fasteners and remove the eyelet terminals from the PDC.
- Remove the lower PDC nuts securing the lower PDC to the body.
1 - Lower PDC Nuts 2 - Lower PDC - If necessary to gain access to the lower wire harness connector, remove the coolant bottle fasteners and reposition the pressurized coolant bottle. Refer to 2.0L, BOTTLE, COOLANT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or 3.6L, BOTTLE, COOLANT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Carefully lift the PDC from vehicle. If equipped, disconnect the wire harness connector from the bottom of the lower PDC and remove the PDC from the vehicle.
- If needed, remove the Dual Battery Switch Module (DBSM) or Power Control Relay (PCR) .
INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
NOTE:
After Installation of a new Fuse Array, please go to the "Guided Diagnostics" routines on the WiTech tool and run "ESS 150 Amp Fuse Check".
- If removed, tighten the fasteners securely.
