Component Functional Description - Vacuum Pump
The Electric Vacuum Pump (EVP) is supplied battery voltage from the EVP relay. The pump is grounded using a chassis ground. The EVP relay can be either a removable relay or Printed Circuit Board (PCB) relay inside the Power Distribution Center (PDC).
The engine is able to produce approximately 72% of BARO. The EVP is able to produce more vacuum than the engine. This allows the system vacuum to reach the 83% of BARO that is required.
- Internal resistance is approximately 1.0 ohm
- Vacuum pump amperage draw is around 50-70 on the inrush (Start) and should drop to a nominal 14-15 amps during normal operation.
