Diagnostic Test
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR THE DTC TO RETURN NOTE:
Make sure the battery is fully charged.
- With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, run a Vehicle Scan Report or record the Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool, under the perform an ECU Reset to the ORC and then erase DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for at least 10.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Refer to: RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST .
- CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL ACTIVE SQUIB DTCS
- With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.
Are there squib specific DTCs set as active in addition to B1BB9-00 AIR BAG SQUIB CIRCUIT COUPLING?
Yes
- Repair all other active squib specific DTCs before repairing B1BB9-00 AIR BAG SQUIB CIRCUIT COUPLING. Refer to: OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) - DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
No
- Go To 3
- With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.
- USE THE SCAN TOOL TO IDENTIFY THE COUPLED CIRCUITS
- With the scan tool, identify the two or more Squib circuits that read SET. To find out which squibs are coupled, Go to Read/Write Data,'Squib Coupling Status' - check 'FAIL' squibs.
Are two or more Squib circuits SET?
Yes
- Repair the two or more Squib circuits for a Squib Circuit Coupling condition.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Refer to: RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST .
- With the scan tool, identify the two or more Squib circuits that read SET. To find out which squibs are coupled, Go to Read/Write Data,'Squib Coupling Status' - check 'FAIL' squibs.
