Diagnostic Test

  1. READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR THE DTC TO RETURN 
    NOTE:

    Make sure the battery is fully charged.

    1. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a Vehicle Scan Report or record the Environmental Data.
    3. With the scan tool, under the perform an ECU Reset to the ORC and then erase DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition off for at least 10.0 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    7. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL ACTIVE SQUIB DTCS 
    1. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.

      Are there squib specific DTCs set as active in addition to B1BB9-00 AIR BAG SQUIB CIRCUIT COUPLING?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. USE THE SCAN TOOL TO IDENTIFY THE COUPLED CIRCUITS 
    1. With the scan tool, identify the two or more Squib circuits that read SET. To find out which squibs are coupled, Go to Read/Write Data,'Squib Coupling Status' - check 'FAIL' squibs.

      Are two or more Squib circuits SET?

      Yes 

      • Repair the two or more Squib circuits for a Squib Circuit Coupling condition.
      • Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
