Diesel Fuel Injection Cleaning Procedure
NOTE:
The PCM must be at the latest available software to run the Fuel Injector Cleaning routine.
- Ensure that the fuel is free of any contamination. Refer to TechConnect/Service
- Add Mopar® Diesel Fuel Injector Cleaning (P/N 68194640AA) to the fuel tank per the instructions printed on the bottle.
- Drive the truck a short distance (parking lot) and stop aggressively several times to agitate the cleaner/fuel mixture in the fuel tank. (Slosh fuel mixture in the tank).
- Safely drive the vehicle and perform several hard accelerations to further work the cleaner into the system.
- Ensure that the vehicle has reached minimum operating temperature of 180°F (82°C).
- Park the vehicle in a safe location to run the cleaning routine.CAUTION:
The scan tool Fuel Injector Cleaning procedure MUST be run to completion. If it is interrupted, the engine will be fixed at an elevated idle. In the event that this happens, reinitiate the routine and either select "Start Injector Cleaning Procedure" again or "Return to Base Idle Setpoint" if the procedure was already near completion.
- Using Wi-Tech, navigate to PCM "Misc Functions" tab and initiate the "Fuel Injector Cleaning" procedure. Be sure to follow all scan tool instructions during the step.
- Using Wi-Tech, navigate to the PCM "Misc Functions" tab, and initiate the "Diesel Particulate Filter Service Regeneration" procedure. Be sure to follow all scan tool instructions during the procedure.
- Cycle the ignition off and let the vehicle sit for 30 minutes.
- Turn the ignition on and clear all DTCs.
- Drive the vehicle for 15 minutes at highway speeds to verify no other DTCs set.
