Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. With the scan tool, read Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. Record the Environmental Data and any DTCs.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    5. With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go to Next Step.

      No 

  2. CHECK FOR ANY SERVICE BULLETINS OR MODULE SOFTWARE UPDATES 
    1. Check for any applicable Service Bulletins or Flash updates related to the DTC.

      Are there any applicable Service Bulletins or Flash updates?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To Next Step.
  3. VISUALLY INSPECT THE INTELLIGENT BATTERY SENSOR FOR DAMAGE 
    1. Visually inspect the negative battery cable connection to the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) for any damage or corrosion and repair as needed.
    2. Visually inspect the negative battery cable connection to the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) for looseness.
    3. Torque the negative battery cable and IBS sensor to its proper torque value.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    5. With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go to Next Step.

      No 

      • Cleaning of the corrosion or tightening the connections resolved the issue.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
      • Test complete.
  4. CYCLE THE SENSOR CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the Intelligent Battery Sensor.
    2. Wait a minimum of 30 seconds.
    3. Reconnect the Intelligent Battery Sensor.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    5. With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Cycling of the two-way connector resolved the issue.
      • Test complete.
