Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Record the Environmental Data and any DTCs.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go to Next Step.
No
- Perform the appropriate INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to: TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK FOR ANY SERVICE BULLETINS OR MODULE SOFTWARE UPDATES
- Check for any applicable Service Bulletins or Flash updates related to the DTC.
Are there any applicable Service Bulletins or Flash updates?
Yes
- Perform the applicable repair.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To Next Step.
- Check for any applicable Service Bulletins or Flash updates related to the DTC.
- VISUALLY INSPECT THE INTELLIGENT BATTERY SENSOR FOR DAMAGE
- Visually inspect the negative battery cable connection to the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) for any damage or corrosion and repair as needed.
- Visually inspect the negative battery cable connection to the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) for looseness.
- Torque the negative battery cable and IBS sensor to its proper torque value.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go to Next Step.
No
- Cleaning of the corrosion or tightening the connections resolved the issue.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
- CYCLE THE SENSOR CONNECTOR
- Disconnect the Intelligent Battery Sensor.
- Wait a minimum of 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the Intelligent Battery Sensor.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to: SENSOR, INTELLIGENT BATTERY (IBS), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Cycling of the two-way connector resolved the issue.
- Test complete.
