Exhaust Pipe: Notes

REMOVAL 

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Position a hydraulic lift under the exhaust pipe.
  3. Remove the exhaust pipe to catalytic converter nuts.

    1 - Exhaust Pipe to Catalytic Converter
    2 - Exhaust Pipe Isolator to Crossmember Bolt
    3 - Exhaust Pipe Upper Isolator to Crossmember Bolt
    4 - Resonator to Exhaust Pipe Clamp
  4. Remove the exhaust pipe isolator to crossmember bolts.
  5. Remove the exhaust pipe upper isolator to crossmember bolts.
  6. Loosen the resonator to exhaust pipe clamp then reposition the exhaust pipe to allow for removal of the power transfer unit.
  7. Remove the power transfer unit. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Rotate the exhaust pipe until clearance is obtained then remove the exhaust pipe.
  9. Remove and discard the gasket.

  10. If required, transfer the exhaust isolators to the new exhaust pipe.

INSTALLATION 

During installation, torque the fasteners to the specifications in the torque table(s) below.

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
