INSPECTION AND CLEANING
INSPECTION
- Look at the stainless steel body of the Catalytic Converter assembly, inspect for bulging or other distortion that could be a result of overheating.
- Indication of exhaust gas leakage such as soot trails.
- Joint misalignment.
- Denting of greater than 6.3 mm (0.25 in.).
- Outer shell torn, cracked or otherwise damaged.
- Loose or damaged core.
INSTALLATION
During installation, torque the fasteners to the specifications in the torque table(s) below.
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
- Make sure the catalytic converter is correctly positioned and properly aligned. The minimum clearance between components is 25.4 mm (1 in.) is required.
- Start the vehicle and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary. Refer to LEAK TESTING .
