Backup Battery: Installation

  1. Position the backup battery (1b) into the TBM2.
  2. Connect the backup battery wire harness connector (1a).

  3. Install the backup battery cover tabs (1b) to the TBM2. Swing the cover (1a) down and engage it to the TBM2.
  4. Install the TBM2 into the vehicle. Refer to GLOBAL TELEMATICS BOX MODULE, INSTALLATION  .
  5. Start the vehicle and confirm that the "Service Required" indicator or message on the Instrumental Panel Cluster (IPC) turns OFF.
    NOTE:

    After removing or replacing the battery and connecting the TBM to the vehicle Controller Area Network (CAN), connect the diagnosis scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC), navigate to the TBM and then select the MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTIONS  menu. Select and launch the BACKUP BATTERY REPLACEMENT  procedure and follow the on-screen instructions displayed by the diagnosis scan tool.

    NOTE:

    If the backup battery was just Disconnected/Reconnected after replacing the battery and connecting the TBM to the vehicle CAN, connect the diagnosis scan tool to the DLC and navigate to the TBM and then select the MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTIONS  menu. Select and launch the BACKUP BATTERY TEST  procedure and carefully follow the on-screen instructions displayed by the diagnosis scan tool.
