Diagnostic Test
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To the appropriate service information
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- VISUALLY INSPECT THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK (BTSI) SOLENOID CIRCUITS
- Turn the ignition Off.
- Remove any necessary console parts for access to the Shifter Assembly. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION and/or CONSOLE, FLOOR, END CAP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Visually inspect the wiring to the BTSI solenoid.
- Make sure the wiring is securely connected at the solenoid.
Were problems found?
Yes
- Repair the circuit(s).
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST, 8HP50/850RE or TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST, 8HP75 .
No
- Replace the ESM in accordance with the Service information. Refer to SHIFTER, TRANSMISSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 8HP50/850RE or SHIFTER, TRANSMISSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 8HP75 .
- Perform the ESM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE (ESM) VERIFICATION TEST .
