Cylinder Compression Test

- Warm up the engine to operating temperature (approximately 80 °C, 176 °F).
- Shut the engine off.
- Disable the low pressure fuel pump.
- Remove the fuel injector. Refer to: INJECTOR(S), FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 3.0L Engine .
- Crank the engine several times with the starter to eliminate combustion residues in the cylinders.
- Insert the Special Tool # VM.10357, (Compression Test Adapter) (3) into fuel injector hole of cylinder to be tested. Install fuel injector clamp (1), bolt (2) and securely tighten.
- Test compression pressure by cranking engine with starter for at least 8 revolutions.
DESCRIPTION SPECIFICATION DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CYLINDERS Cylinder Compression 21 - 25 Bar (304 - 362 psi) 5 Bar (73 psi) - Carry out the test procedure at the remaining cylinders in the same way.
- Remove the Special Tool # VM.10357, (Compression Test Adapter) from cylinder head.
- Install the fuel injector. Refer to INJECTOR(S), FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 3.0L Engine .
