Shift Cable: Removal

  1. Set the parking brake.
  2. Remove the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or CONSOLE, FLOOR, END CAP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Place the shifter in Park (P) position.

    2 - Shifter Cable Housing To Shifter Attachment
  4. Remove the shifter cable end from the shifter ball stud.
  5. Detach the shifter cable housing from the shifter.
  6. Detach the shifter cable end from the manual lever.

  7. Squeeze the shifter cable retention tabs and remove the shifter cable from the shifter cable bracket.
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

    2 - Transmission Shifter Cable Grommet To Floor Nuts
    3 - Transmission Shifter Cable Bracket To Transmission Bolts
  9. Remove the nuts for the shifter cable grommet and plate assembly.
  10. Pull the shifter cable and plate assembly through the opening in the floor pan.
  11. Remove the shifter cable from the vehicle.
