Removal And Installation: Removal

WARNING:

Do not remove the strut rod nut before the coil spring is properly compressed. The coil spring is held under pressure. The coil spring must be compressed, removing spring tension from the upper mount and bearing, before the strut rod nut is removed.

  1. Remove the front wiper cowl. Refer to COVER, COWL PANEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  2. Remove the three strut upper mount bolts (1).
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  4. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to TIRES & WHEELS, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  5. While holding the stem with the appropriate tool use (special tool #2027800020, Kit, Remover - Installer Shock / Strut) to remove the stabilizer bar link nut (1) and disconnect the stabilizer link from the strut (5).
  6. Remove the retaining clip and remove the brake hose (3) from the strut (5).
  7. Remove the wheel speed sensor harness (2) from the strut.
  8. Remove the two strut lower bolts (4).
  9. Remove the strut (5).
