Removal And Installation: Removal

NOTE:

If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to align the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU. Follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. If equipped, remove the drivers knee blocker air bag. Refer to AIR BAG, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  4. Remove the DLC connector (3) from the bracket (2), remove the bracket fasteners (1) and lower the bracket. The hood release cable does need to be removed if only lowering bracket.

  5. Disconnect the BCM wire harness connectors (1) on the front of the BCM (2).

  6. Remove the BCM mounting bracket fasteners (1) to release the BCM and the bracket (2).

  7. Rotate the BCM and the bracket (2) around and disconnect the wire harness connectors (1) from the back of the BCM.
  8. Remove the BCM and bracket from the vehicle.
  9. Remove the BCM from the bracket.
