Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, create a Vehicle Scan Report and attach it to the repair order.
- Erase the DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
- Operate the liftgate to the full up position and wait 30 seconds.
- Close the liftgate and repeat the previous step.
- With the scan tool, read the PLGM DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK FOR A WEAK STRUT
- Manually open the liftgate to approximately 1/4 open position.
- Let go of the liftgate and see if it will close quickly with no resistance.
- If necessary, compare the effort to open and close the liftgate with a known good vehicle.NOTE:
At this point the liftgate should hold in this position but it may slip down very slowly which is allowable.
Does the liftgate hold in position or lower very slowly?
Yes
- If this vehicle continues to set this DTC, replace the Liftgate Gas Prop (strut) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to PROP, GAS, LIFTGATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Test Complete.
No
- Replace the Liftgate Gas Prop (strut) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to PROP, GAS, LIFTGATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
