Removal And Installation: LHD: Notes

REMOVAL 

NOTE:

Do not disconnect the torque sensor (grey) harness connector and make sure it is connected properly.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the front crossmember. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

    1 - Steering Gear Front Bolts
    2 - Tie Rod End Nut
    3 - Steering Gear Rear Bolts
    4 - Steering Gear Bracket Bolts (Short)
    5 - Steering Gear Bracket Bolts (Long)
  3. Disconnect the outer tie rod ends from the steering knuckles and DISCARD  the nuts. Refer to TIE ROD, STEERING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the steering gear front bolts.
  5. Remove the steering gear rear bolts.
  6. Remove the steering gear bracket bolts (short).
  7. Remove the steering gear bracket bolts (long).
  8. Remove the brackets.
  9. Remove the steering gear.

INSTALLATION 

During installation, torque the fasteners to the specifications in the torque table(s) below.

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
