Spring(S), Valve: Inspection

Check the valve spring free length, spring force and spring installed height.
Spring force can be measured with a test fixture (2). Follow the tool manufactures instructions. Replace any springs that do not meet specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

Installed height of the valve spring must be checked with the valve assembled into the cylinder head. Refer to SPRING(S), VALVE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
If the valves or valve seats have been refinished, check the installed height of the valve springs (4). Make sure the measurement is taken from the top of spring seat (6) to the bottom surface of spring retainer (1). Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
