Installation - 3.2L: Notes

FRONT CATALYTIC CONVERTER

  1. If the gaskets need replacing, position new gasket onto the manifold flange. Loosely install the lower bolt (2).
  2. Position the catalytic converter (3) against the manifold.
  3. Install the upper flange bolts. Tighten the bolts (1, 2) to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS - 3.2L  .

  4. Position the cross-under pipe (1) to the catalytic converter and tighten the nuts (1) to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS - 3.2L  .
  5. Install the support bolt (5) and tighten to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS - 3.2L  .
    NOTE:

    Using care, do not to twist or kink the oxygen sensor wires.

  6. Reconnect the wire harness connectors (1, 2).
  7. If removed, install the oxygen sensors (3, 5) and tighten the sensors to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS - 3.2L  .

  8. Install the belly pans (1).
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
  11. Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
  12. Check the exhaust system for contact with the body panels. Make the necessary adjustments, if needed.
