Inner Tie Rod
- Apply Mopar® Lock and Seal Adhesive or equivalent thread lock adhesive to the inboard side of the inner tie rod end.
- Thread the inner tie rod to the rack and pinion.
- Using a suitable tool (2), tighten the inner tie rod end (1) to 92 N.m (68 ft. lbs.).NOTE:
Lubricant between the boot and tie rod end will allow the toe adjustment procedure without twisting the boot.
- Apply a small amount of Mopar® Lubriplate, or equivalent in the recessed area of the inner tie rod where the small end of the boot attaches.
- Position the large clamp (1) on the boot (2) and install the boot over the inner tie rod and rack.
- Engage the small end of boot (2) in the groove and install the small boot clamp (3).
- Using a crimp tool, or equivalent, tighten the large boot clamp (1).
- Install the jam nut (3) to the inner tie rod end.NOTE:
The toe adjustment procedure must be performed after installing the outer tie rod.
- Install the outer tie rod. Refer to END, TIE ROD, INSTALLATION .
- After toe adjustment, tighten the jam nut (3) to 75 N.m (55 ft. lbs).
