Switch, Evaporative Emissions System Monitor: Removal

WARNING:

Do not smoke or use open flames/sparks when servicing the fuel system. Wear protective clothing and eye protection. Make sure the area in which the vehicle is being serviced is in a well ventilated area and free of flames/sparks. Failure to comply may result in serious or fatal injury.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove left rear wheel and tire.

  4. Remove the left rear wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to REMOVAL - REAR .

    NOTE:

    When removing the fresh air hose, remove the hose at the fresh air filter first, this will eliminate the risk of breaking the nipple from the ESIM during removal.

  5. Carefully remove the Evaporative System Integrity Monitor (ESIM) fresh air hose (1) at the fresh air filter.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the ESIM.

  7. A lock tab (1) is used on the back of the ESIM. Push lock tab towards the ESIM while rotating the ESIM counterclockwise 1/4 turn for removal.

  8. Remove the ESIM from the EVAP canister.
