Damper, Vibration: Installation
NOTE:
When installing a new damper after the damper has spun, the timing sprocket must be replaced.
- Allow the engine to cool to room/ambient temperature prior to performing the removal or installation procedure.NOTE:
The engine must be at room/ambient temperature before installing the damper.
- Using (special tool #2042300090, Installer, Front Damper), install the threaded rod into the crankshaft.
- Tighten the threaded rod until it is seated to the face of the crankshaft.
- Position the damper (2) on the crankshaft.
- Install the press washer, bearing, washer, and the press nut onto the threaded rod.
- Using Damper Installer and a deep well socket, press the damper onto the crankshaft until seated.
- Install a New vibration damper bolt (1).
- Position the (special tool #10386, Holder, Vibration Damper), onto the vibration damper pulley.
- Tighten the bolt (1) to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the cooling fan. Refer to FAN, COOLING, INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable.
