Initial Installation - LHD
- Before installation, record the data on the label (1) of the Telematic Box (T-Box) module. This data will be needed for the test procedure at the end of the installation.
- Apply a strip of double-sided adhesive tape, or Velcro, (1) to the back of the T-Box module.
- Apply Coroplast cloth tape (1) to parts of the T-Box module that come in contact with the vehicle, to prevent vibrations when mounted.
- Make sure Coroplast cloth tape (2) covers the T-Box module wiring, up to the electrical connector and add if needed.
- Disconnect and insulate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Using a trim stick, or equivalent tool, remove the Instrument Panel (IP) side panel (1).
- Position the door seal aside. Using a trim stick, or equivalent tool, remove the right front door sill plate (1).
- Using a trim stick, or equivalent tool, remove the lower right kick panel (1).
- Using a suitable tool, remove the three fasteners (1a) from the right sound-proof closeout panel (1b) and lower it. Disconnect any wire harness connectors.
- Release the side retainers (1a) and separate the glove box (1b) from its seat.
- Remove the glove box lower screws (1).
- Remove the screws located inside the rubber compartment closing dampers (1).
- Disconnect the wire harness connector (1a) from the lamp and remove the glove box surround (1b).
- Clean the T-Box module mounting surface (1a) with isopropyl alcohol.
- Position the T-Box module (1a) onto the bracket, with the connector socket facing upwards, and secure it with double-sided adhesive tape, or Velcro. Route and secure two cable ties (1b) through the slots in the bracket.
- Connect the wiring connector (1a) to the T-Box module (1b).
- In the right door pillar area, locate inline connector XY7001A
(1a).
- Cut a section of approximately 5 cm (2 in.) from the wiring (1), removing the ground ring terminal.
- Install the ground bypass using a signal tap (1b) on PIN 20
of the connector.
- Apply Coroplast cloth tape around the signal tap (1) to prevent it from opening or creating noise.
- In the right lower kick panel, locate and disconnect the wire harness connector (1).
- Cut a section of approximately 5 cm (2 in.) from the wiring with the KL15
and KL30
tower connectors (1).
- Install four connections using signal taps (1). The table below contains the pins for each signal tap for the corresponding model year.
