REMOVAL
CAUTION:
Anytime the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) is mounted on the steering column the steering shaft must be kept from turning or else SCCM damage will occur. Some vehicles do not have an internal lock mechanisms, so the steering column shaft must be preventing from rotating through use of a suitable tool.
- Secure the steering wheel to prevent it from turning.
- Remove the air intake resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1 - Upper Steering Column Shaft Coupling Pinch Bolt - Remove and DISCARD
the upper steering column shaft coupling pinch bolt and disengage the intermediate shaft from the steering column shaft coupling.
1 - Intermediate Shaft Pinch Bolt - Remove and DISCARD the intermediate shaft pinch bolt.
- Remove the intermediate shaft.
INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
During installation torque the following fasteners to specification:
| Steering Column Shaft Coupling Pinch Bolts | 45 N. m (33 Ft. Lbs.) | Do not reuse these fasteners. If removed, a new fastener must be installed and tightened to specifications. |
| Intermediate Shaft Pinch Bolt | 45 N. m (33 Ft. Lbs.) | Do not reuse these fasteners. If removed, a new fastener must be installed and tightened to specifications. |
