Coil Spring
REMOVAL
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the shock absorber. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER, SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Compress the coil spring in a suitable spring compressor.
1 - Upper Mount 5 - Jounce Bumper 2 - Spacer 6 - Spring 3 - Cap 7 - Dust Boot 4 - Strut Rod Nut - Remove the cap and the spacer.
- Have a helper support the shock absorber from below, then hold the strut rod with a suitable socket. Use (special tool #9362, Wrench, Strut Nut) to remove and DISCARD the strut rod nut.
- Remove the shock absorber from the spring and the upper mount.
- Release the spring compressor and remove the coil spring from the spring compressor.
INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
During installation torque the following fasteners to specification:
| Strut Rod Nut | 50 N. m (37 Ft. Lbs.) | Do not reuse these fasteners. If removed, a new fastener must be installed and tightened to specifications. |
