Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager and 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Brake Pedal Travel Sensor is a hardwired input to the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module. When the brake pedal is pressed, the Brake Pedal Travel Sensor sends an input signal to the ABS Module. The ABS Module sends an input signal through the Brake Signal 1 circuit, along with a redundant CAN C Bus message, to the Body Control Module (BCM), indicating the Brake Pedal is applied. The BCM provides a voltage output through the Left and Right Stop Lamp Driver circuit to the Left and Right Stop Lamps and through the Brake Lamp Switch Output circuit to the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL).
