Theory Of Operation

The CAN Dedicated Powertrain (DPT) ESHIFT bus is also known as the Private CAN BUS.

The Electronic Shift Module (ESM) communicates with the Transmission Control Module (TCM) on the CAN Dedicated Powertrain (DPT) ESHIFT bus. If the ESM loses communication with the TCM on the CAN DPT ESHIFT bus, this CAN BUS OFF DTC sets.
