Coil Spring

REMOVAL 

  1. Raise and support the vehicle Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Support the axle assembly with an appropriate jack.
  3. Disconnect rear stabilizer bar link from the rear axle. Refer to LINK, STABILIZER BAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Disconnect the rear track bar from the frame. Refer to TRACK BAR, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Remove the rear shock absorber lower nut and bolt. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER, SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
    NOTE:

    When releasing load from the coil spring use caution to prevent the coil spring from becoming a projectile.

  6. Lower the axle until the spring is free from the upper mount.
  7. Remove the spring.

INSTALLATION 

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
