Gear Shift Lever

REMOVAL 

  1. Remove the transfer case lever, Refer to LEVER, TRANSFER CASE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONLEVER, TRANSFER CASE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  2. Remove the shifter boot. Refer to BOOT, GEARSHIFT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Verify the transmission is in the 3-4 neutral gate.
  4. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the top right of the manual transmission shifter assembly.

  5. Disconnect both manual transmission shifter cables from the manual transmission shifter assembly.

  6. Remove the manual transmission shifter assembly nuts.
  7. Remove the manual transmission shifter assembly from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Position the manual transmission shifter assembly in the vehicle.

  2. Install the manual transmission shifter assembly nuts (1) and tighten them to the proper. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

    1 - Shift Cable Ends
  3. Connect both shift cables to the manual transmission shifter assembly. Adjust the shift cables. Refer to CABLE, GEARSHIFT CONTROL, ADJUSTMENTS .
  4. Install the shifter boot. Refer to BOOT, GEARSHIFT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Install the transfer case lever, Refer to LEVER, TRANSFER CASE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONLEVER, TRANSFER CASE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
