Lever, Transfer Case: Adjustments: Notes

  1. Shift transfer case into 4 HI.
  2. Remove the transfer case shift handle. Refer to HANDLE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONCONSOLE, FLOOR, END CAP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Insert a dowel pin or 4.9 mm (3/16 in.) drill bit into the alignment hole on the shifter assembly that aligns the shifter assembly and shift lever.
    NOTE:

    The 4.9 mm (3/16 in.) dowel pin prevents fore and aft movement of the shift lever and locks the shift lever in the 4 HI position for easy adjustment.

    1 - Shifter Adjustment Nut
  5. Loosen the shifter adjustment nut.
  6. Apply rearward pressure to the shift lever and tighten the shifter adjustment nut securely.
  7. Verify transfer case operation.
  8. Install the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONCONSOLE, FLOOR, END CAP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  9. Install the transfer case shift handle. Refer to HANDLE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
