The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) temperature sensors operate as a typical 2-wire temp sensor. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) provides a 5.0 volt signal and sensor ground to the temp sensor. The temperature sensors are used to determine the EGR gas temperature downstream of the EGR coolers. The temperature signal is used to determine EGR operation and in calculating EGR flow during operation. Both EGR temperature sensors can be serviced.
