Clutch Disc: Notes

REMOVAL

Follow practices prescribed by appropriate regulations for the handling, processing and disposing of dust and debris.

  1. Remove the transmission. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  2. Install the (special tool #10272, Tool, Flywheel Locking).
    NOTE:

    It may be necessary to install an appropriate length 10 MM bolt, washer and nut in place of the supplied 12 MM fastener. 

  3. Prior to removal, mark the position of the pressure plate to the flywheel with paint or scribe line for assembly reference.

  4. Loosen pressure plate bolts evenly, a few threads at a time and in a diagonal pattern to prevent warping the plate.
  5. While holding the clutch and disc against the flywheel, remove and DISCARD  the bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel.

  6. While securely holding the disc to the clutch plate, separate the clutch plate from the flywheel.

During installation, torque the fasteners to the specifications in the torque table(s) below.

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
