Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the gap hider. Refer to GAP HIDER, STEERING COLUMN SHROUD, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  3. Remove the lower steering column pinch bolt (1) DISCARD pinch bolt. 

    Do not start to remove (or break free) Pinch Bolt with an impact wrench/gun.

  4. Remove the wire retainer (2) from the steering column.
  5. Remove the steering column nuts (1).
  6. Remove the steering column assembly.
