Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. Position the steering column in the vehicle. Install the steering column nuts (1), and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Install the wire retainer (2) back to the steering column.

  3. Connect the steering column to the steering gear. The hole in steering column must align with whistle notch in the steering gear. Hand start a NEW pinch bolt (1)  and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Install the gap hider. Refer to GAP HIDER, STEERING COLUMN SHROUD, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
