1-Speed PTU

The 1-Speed Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is serviced as an assembly  when mechanical faults are evident. The shift actuator is a serviceable component, and if leaking, the input shaft seal(s), drive pinion seal, and case gasket can be serviced. Special tools have been developed to service the seals in the 1-Speed PTU.

NOTE:

There are two 1-Speed PTU's in use, one for the automatic transmission and one for the manual transmission, they have unique mounting provisions, and are not  interchangeable. The manual transmission version also has two opposed seals on the input shaft, the automatic transmission version has a single seal on the input shaft.
