Removal And Installation: Removal

NOTE:
The washer pump/motor service procedure is the same for vehicles with or without the optional rear washer system.
NOTE:
The washer pump/motor can be removed from the washer reservoir without removing the reservoir from the vehicle.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the front fascia lower closeout panel. Refer to BELLY PAN, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Disconnect the engine compartment wire harness connector (2) from the washer pump/motor unit connector receptacle (1).NOTE:
On vehicles with the optional rear washer system, to aid in reinstallation, note the installed position of the washer hoses (4) prior to disconnecting them from the washer pump.
- Disconnect the front and, if equipped, rear washer hoses (4) from the barbed outlet nipples of the washer pump and allow the washer fluid to drain into a clean container for reuse.
- Using hand pressure, firmly grasp and pull the washer pump (1) upward far enough to disengage the pump inlet nipple from the rubber grommet seal/filter screen (3) in the reservoir. Care must be taken not to damage the reservoir.
- Remove the washer pump/motor unit from the washer reservoir.
- Remove the rubber grommet seal (3) from the washer pump mounting hole in the reservoir and discard.
