Vehicle Theft Alarm: Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager and 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

VTA Armed Mode

The Vehicle enters VTA Armed Mode after the following has been completed:

  1. Ignition mode is off
  2. All doors are closed, hood is closed (in markets where applicable)
  3. Vehicle is locked

When all the three conditions are true, the vehicle will enter the pre-armed mode for 16 seconds (the Security Indicator in the Instrument Panel Cluster/IPC will flash rapidly). Once completed, the vehicle will then enter the Armed mode (the Security Indicator in the IPC cluster will flash slowly).

During the Armed Mode, the BCM monitors all door ajar, liftgate ajar and hood (if equipped) switches. If the BCM senses that any door ajar or hood switch is open (if equipped) and the VTA is still in Armed Mode, the BCM will pulse the vehicle's horn as an audible deterrent, and flash certain exterior lamps as a visual deterrent.

VTA Disarmed Mode

The vehicle exits VTA Armed Mode and enters the Disarmed Mode after unlocking the vehicle with a valid FOBIK using the RKE option or Passive Entry option. The vehicle can also be disarmed by changing the ignition switch status from Off to Acc/Run with a valid FOBIK present inside the vehicle. The handshake between FOBIK and RFH must be completed and verified first before the VTA is disarmed. If a valid FOBIK is deemed invalid for any reason by the system, unlock the door with the valet key, then the vehicle will disarm when the KIN is pushed with the valid FOBIK and vehicle ignition status changes from Off to Acc/Run.
