Diagnosis And Testing - Lock Switch

  1. Remove the power switch module and bezel unit from the front door trim panel. Refer to SWITCH, LOCK, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  2. Disconnect the door wire harness connector from the power switch module.
  3. Using an ohmmeter, test the resistance between the terminals of the front door power lock or power window switch as shown in the Power Lock or Power Window Switch Tests table below.
    NOTE:

    The switches in the driver front door switch module not listed in the Switch Test Tables provide inputs to the Driver Door Module (DDM) over a Local Interface Network (LIN) data bus and cannot be resistance tested. The use of a diagnostic scan tool and the appropriate diagnostic information is required for further testing of those switches.

    POWER LOCK SWITCH TESTS - PASSENGER DOOR
    SWITCH POSITION (PINS)  RESISTANCE RANGE (OHMS) 
    LOCK (4 and 8) 326 - 341
    UNLOCK (4 and 8) 99 - 103
    NEUTRAL (4 and 8) >1 megohm
    POWER WINDOW SWITCH TESTS - DRIVER DOOR 
    SWITCH POSITION (PINS)  RESISTANCE (OHMS) 
    MASTER LEFT REAR WINDOW  
    UP SWITCH - NEUTRAL (2 and 5) >1 megohm
    UP SWITCH - UP (2 and 5) <2
    DOWN SWITCH - NEUTRAL (2 and 7) >1 megohm
    DOWN SWITCH - DOWN (2 and 7) <2
    LEFT REAR WINDOW 
    UP SWITCH - NEUTRAL (2 and 5) >1 megohm
    UP SWITCH - UP (2 and 5) <2
    DOWN SWITCH - NEUTRAL (2 and 7) >1 megohm
    DOWN SWITCH - DOWN (2 and 7) <2
    RIGHT REAR WINDOW 
    UP SWITCH - NEUTRAL (2 and 12) >1 megohm
    UP SWITCH - UP (2 and 12) <2
    DOWN SWITCH - NEUTRAL (2 and 14) >1 megohm
    DOWN SWITCH - DOWN (2 and 14) <2
    POWER WINDOW SWITCH TESTS - PASSENGER DOOR 
    SWITCH POSITION (PINS)  RESISTANCE RANGE (OHMS) 
    UP (4 and 9) 990 - 1022
    AUTO UP (4 and 9) 329 - 349
    DOWN (4 and 9) 2970 - 3042
    AUTO DOWN (4 and 9) 0 - 12
    NEUTRAL (4 and 9) >1 megohm
  4. If a switch fails any of the tests, replace the ineffective front door power switch module and bezel unit as required.
