When Monitored And Set Conditions

NOTE:
This procedure diagnoses the CAN Bus circuits between the Data Link Connector (DLC) and the Security Gateway (SGW) Module.
NOTE:
For the CAN C Bus, if the scan tool is able to communicate with the SGW Module, but does not communicate with other CAN C Bus modules, perform the appropriate Body Control Module (BCM) CAN BUS OFF, CAN BUS MISSING MESSAGE or CAN BUS NO SIGNAL U-code diagnostic procedure for the CAN C Bus. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX . .
NOTE:
This condition will not display any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
CAN C Bus Off Symptoms:
- The ignition turns on and the engine starts.
- The scan tool does not automatically detect the vehicle and the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) has to be manually entered. (Exception: CAN C (-) circuit is shorted to ground.)
- The scan tool displays a Security Gateway (SGW) Module is unresponsive message. (Exception: CAN C (-) circuit is shorted to ground.)
- The scan tool topology screen indicates all CAN IHS Bus modules communicate, as intended.
- The scan tool topology screen indicates there is no communication with the SGW Module, all CAN C Bus modules, and possibly the Radio. (Exception: CAN C (-) circuit is shorted to ground.)
- If a CAN C (-) or (+) circuit is shorted to ground, the voltage on the circuit will measure 0.0 volts.
CAN IHS Bus Off Symptoms:
- The ignition turns on and the engine starts.
- The scan tool is able to communicate with the Security Gateway (SGW) Module and the Radio.
- The scan tool topology screen indicates all CAN C Bus modules communicate, as intended.
- The scan tool topology screen indicates there is no communication with all CAN IHS Bus modules. (Exception: CAN IHS (-) circuit is shorted to ground.)
- If a CAN IHS (-) or (+) circuit is shorted to ground, the voltage on the circuit will measure 0.0 volts.
CAN C Bus and CAN IHS Bus Off Symptoms:
If the scan tool is unable to communicate with All CAN C Bus and CAN IHS Bus modules, check the following:
- Scan tool not operating properly.
- DLC power and ground circuits.
- SGW Module power and ground circuits.
