Blind Spot Monitoring & Rear Cross-Path Detection (optional)

Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) continually monitors blind zones on either side of the vehicle using radar sensors (2). If a vehicle is sensed in the zones, the driver will be notified with a yellow + triangle icon in the corresponding side view mirror (1). The BSM will request the radio to chime twice to indicate objects in the blind spot zone when the vehicle turn signal is on. There is a driver selectable options for this system located in the driver assistance settings menu in the radio.

Another function of the BSM system is the rear cross-path detection system. Rear cross-path detection monitors for vehicles/objects in perpendicular relationships to the vehicle when maneuvering in reverse in parking lots and provides feedback to the driver using the same audible chimes and visual icons.

System Functions Include:

The blind spot sensors are narrow band radar sensors which are mounted on the inside corners of the rear fascia. The detection zone covers a grid approximately one lane on both sides of the vehicle 3.2 meters (10 feet) and extends from the driver's seat to approximately 3 meters behind the rear fascia.

The BSM system components cannot be adjusted or repaired. If any of the BSM system components becomes damaged or ineffective, that component must be replaced.
