Theory Of Operation
This vehicle may be equipped with one of two types of camera systems based upon sales codes.
| CAMERA SYSTEM | SALES CODE | DESCRIPTION |
|---|---|---|
| Rearview Camera (RVC) | XAC | PARKVIEW REAR BACK-UP CAMERA |
| Surround View Camera (SVC) | XAK | 360 SURROUND VIEW CAMERA SYSTEM |
Rear-view Camera (RVC)
The output of the RVC system is a video signal compatible to the National Television System Committee (NTSC) standard composite video M format, or NTSC-M. The video signal is delivered to the radio video display unit through the entire length of the vehicle by camera signal and the camera return circuits that are arranged as a twisted pair, with an additional grounded foil jacket to protect the video signal from corruption due to stray radiated signals within the vehicle environment. The ground shield is terminated only at the video display (radio) end, not at the camera. For more details on the description and operation of the RVC system. Refer to AUDIO AND VIDEO/CAMERA, REAR/DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .
Surround View Camera (SVC)
The output of the SVC system involves four cameras:
- Front view camera
- Left side camera - Integral to the exterior rearview mirror
- Right side camera - Integral to the exterior rearview mirror
- Rear view camera
Each camera directly transmits a video and data output signal to the CVPM for processing. The SVCs sends a video signal (std. NTSC i.e. TV) to the Central Vision Processing Module (CVPM) using Low Voltage Digital Signal (LVDS) cables. The CVPM then passes this video signal on to the Radio using a (LVDS) cable, which displays on the Radio screen. The SVC system automatically displays an on-screen mirrored image of the rear surroundings behind the vehicle whenever the gear shift lever is placed into "REVERSE". The screen toggles functions displaying only one kind of image at a time; and in reverse, the rear camera has priority. For more details on the description and operation of the SVC system.
