Description And Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager and 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

DESCRIPTION

The Interior Rear View Camera System (sales code XPR) provides the customer the ability to view cargo or passengers in the rear interior of the vehicle. The camera is mounted in the headliner and the image is displayed in the Display Screen Module (DSM), which receives its signal from the radio. The customer has the option to zoom in on the individual seats.

The feature can be activated via the Radio Controls Menu or App Drawer.

OPERATION

The IRVC is powered by a 12 volt feed received from the radio through the coaxial cable that connects the two components. The IRVC also receives power by a fused ignition 12 volt feed received from the Power Distribution Center (PDC) for lighting to the camera and allowing LIN communication between the IRVC and Body Control Module (BCM). The IRVC signal integrity is secured using a shield circuit in the coaxial cable that runs from the IRVC to the radio.

The output of the IRVC is a digital video signal. The digital video signal is delivered to the radio video display unit through the vehicle by coaxial cable that contains the camera circuit that is surrounded by a grounded metal jacket to protect the video signal from corruption due to stray radiated signals within the vehicle environment. Portions of the video coaxial wire is contained within the roof wire harness and a jumper harness located between the radio and the roof harness connector below the instrument panel at the right cowl side inner panel.
